Wow

I have lived in Toronto my whole life but found your website informative to the point that I felt like I had never seen Toronto before. Great website on a great city :)

I got as far as your bit about Niagara Falls and I'd seen enough. If you think the place is so "trashy" than why did you even bother doing the research on it? It may not be as fancy as Toronto and the people here don't make as much money, but we are much friendlier and we don't go to bed at night listening to guns being fired. I'm not saying all of TO is like that but it's all they print in the Toronto Sun so what else am I supposed to think?

Why didn't you mention Fort Erie? Most people that live here think it's just a Niagara Falls wannabe. If you want to trash a place than trash Niagara Falls, NY. That's trashy!!!

HI!

I'm one of the children who lived in the houses that were demolished for Regent's Park. I don,t think our home was "poorly looked after" and in view of our circumstances at the time was about all we could afford. After we were forced to sell because of the redevelopment, we never owned another house. Just a point for history is that this upheaval didn't happen until the 50's.I would also like to know how you got a picture of Allan Gardens without all the derelicts in it.

What a great site. I was born and raised in Toronto, and I absolutely love your site. As for those negative comments seen here, forget them. You are allowed to have your feelings about places. That's the great thing about being Canadian - you're free to think or feel or say what you want. Eh?

Just got back from visiting your fine city. Very impressive, I took the tour bus from Confederation Park - excellent. You have many wonderful assets that most cities don't - one of them is your Kingston Frontenacs OHL hockey team. Support them and keep them in town. We recently lost our team to the big bucks from the USA, the owners got rich and the fans got ripped. My daughter attends Queen's University - another feature of your fair city.

My daughter is making a TV series in Toranto, at least she is the lead actress. Says it's a nice place to work but doesn't get to see too much because of schedule. Beyond that, I don't know why all of the "bad talk" about the city. "If one can't say something nice, don't say anything at all." I don't know who the quote is from, but I agree.

Now to the purpose of this missive. Great looking layout. I enjoyed the pictures very much. Be well and enjoy your hobby. I have since I was in my preteens. I'm almost 70 now. D

What a great imformative Web Site about the city of Toronto

after leaving there 35 years ago its kind of cool to be able to visit with your many photos of the different localaties and ethnic groups which have grown and made Toronto what it is today.

It was great to take a "web-walk" through my old stomping grounds. My family and I have been living in Saskatchewan for ten years now, and I still get homesick. I lived most of my life in Guildwood Village. We lived on Nuffield Drive.

Thanks for the quaint web-site with your personal touches. I loved the photos although they made me very homesick. I grew up in Port Colborne and attended Brock University in St. Catharines.

I live in Guildwood and think that your site is excellent.

For anyone coming to visit us from Britain for a holiday, I just refer them to your site to get the feel of Guildwood, then Toronto, and then the big tourist attraction that people want to see, Niagara Falls. Your pictures are worth a thousand words.

By the way, why don't you edit out the comments you get that are of an abusive or ignorant nature?

Last time I was in WAWA was in 1971 and we went to the movie house before flying into Lochalsh for a week. Played golf at a campground or adjacent to it, took the train to Goudreua...marveled at the ruins of the iron ore smelters...found out it had 10,000 people turn of the century. All in all it was one my most fantastic episodes and i've been worldwide. What wonderful people.

last...forgot to mention this.....my father, also harold house who passed at 90 2 years ago, ...his best evening so he says was walking into Lochalsh from the camp at Wabatongushi and seeing "longest day" in a meeting house in the village. dogs, locals, guests, 5 reels - rewound after each...40s in mid july, bears on the way back, how wonderfully vivid it is.

cabbagetown is well known on quite a few sites. this is where i was born. very proud cabbagetowner. but, there is no known site on broadview & queen where we moved(over the don bridge as it was known then) in the mid 40's. it was quite the area then with a strong class distinction. blue collar workers lucky enough to have jobs. then there were those who had lesser jobs & those who were on assistance. all very proud people. i love this area also. "the corner" as it was known, was where friends made are still today "friends". hope someone will add to this. EILEEN STAFFORD

It is my belief that the bailey bridge in Scarborough has been there since 1954, when the original bridge was washed away by Hurricane Hazel.
