Hello Boldts!, I love your photos! We just purchased a home in Guildwood, and we will move there shortly. Toronto's Chief of Police, Bill Blair, has recently stated that "Scarborough has the lowest crime rate of any community in Toronto" and Toronto ranks amongst the lowest rates in the world when it comes to crime in big cities. I think we made the right decision, we'll miss having you here !

I have many fond memories of my of Guildwood visiting my good friend, the late Richard Sands, a proud & active Guildwooder. We had many a walk about through the village. It seemed like a small, warm town. I was treated like a neighbour & a friend. When I think of Richard, I will think of Guildwood.

Wow! I love this site. I cound it by accident. I used to live in Guildwood, but we moved about two years ago. I went to Poplar Road and Jack Miner. To all my friends, I miss you a lot. It was nice looking at all the pictures in the album. It really brought back some memories. By the way, is the Guild Inn still standing? I hope the new building looks as good as the old one.

Great site!! I grew up in Guildwood. Lived there from 1960-1977. Went to Guildwood Public School, Jack Miner and Laurier. Lived on Wythenshawe Wood. It's great to see a few familiar names. Hi Karen Moore! We went all through school together. And T. Puhakka, how is Kristina? She was my best childhood friend. I get back to visit Guildwood and drive by my old house every couple of years. So glad to see Guildwood Day is still going strong. I remember dressing up myself and my bike and joining the parade. What a great place to grow up in. It was idyllic.

Thanks for this little trip down memory lane!

I visited the Guild several times as a teenager as my best friend Leslie lived there. I loved it and I loved walking along the bluffs. I keep meaning to return, though Leslie has moved away...perhaps I will visit the Guild this fall.

Great site; take care! Harus

i now live downtown and although everything is close, the kids school, library, rink, pool, shopping, work...i truly miss the open spaces and the quiet roads for endless games of hockey. i lived in the guild from the time i was 5 until i was 25 and if i didn't live downtown i would move back to the guild in a heart beat. truly a wonderful place to raise a family and from a kids perspective it's like living in a village.

Great site! I lived in Scarborough from the late 50's to 1980. One error that popped out at me: Bluffer's Park is at the foot of Brimley, not Bellamy (in page /Scar-Bluffs.shtml). I used to ride my bike down to the lake (and back up!), straight down Brimley from the Thomson Park area.

Great Job!

Great site , nice to see how many people still truly enjoy the Guild Inn. Going to the Guild is like stepping back in time, and one truly unique place on earth. I personally can't wait for the re-build to begin! I'm sure it will be disturbing to the commuintiy , but is a must job. Nobody could possibly want to see such a beautiful landmark crumble to the ground. It would be nice to see the same building in it's place, but I'm sure we will all be proud of the new structure.I just hope that all of it ghost's don't move out once constuction begin's. HA HA

I really enjoy this web. i think its great that u have info 2 share it with the world and ur site has given me information to cope with a very difficult project. Robert Borden is quite a persin and 4 many reasons his personal life was never really unraveled in his point of time. But now hundreds of thousands are able 2 c what Sir Robert Laird Borden was really like. Most ppl hate conservative, but i on the other hand love what they were trying 2 do bak when and rite now.

Could i request something? More and more about robert borden because there is so much about him already which is not revealed.

Thx 4 ur time.

The Dearham/Poplar Road plaza can be better described as a small Medical Mall since it now houses a doctors office, dental office and a physiotherapy/acupuncture/massage therapy clinic.

Enjoyed your 2006 photos of the guildwood day.

I once lived in guildwood and had a wonderful woman there. Fond times and she was very special to me. I only wish I was still with her. She was the most wonderful person in the world. I still love her even to this day. I will return to the old area in the near future.

Thank You for the memories.

Hello my home town. I was born there and grew up going to Poplar rd, Jack Miner and Laurier coll. I moved away from Canada, and never came home till now. I haven't seen the beauty of this lovely town for years. Now back close I intend on visting my old stomping grounds. Now with my own children may they enjoy the beauty as I did and now still do. I grew up on Grey Abbey Trail and seen the lake every moring out my front window, the bluffs were always fun to walk along and be amazed by the size of the drop. Enjoyed your site greatly. Formily Amy Verner now Amy Wright. Raised there from 69-86.

I used to meet a man I worked with and loved by these bluffs. This place will always hold a special place in my heart. I have not seen this man since Dec 03, but in my heart I want to see him again. We even had our own special rock that we sat and watched the water. It was such a peacefull, and happy time for me, and I do hope for him also?? I may never know....

Wow, I went to Laurier, & as so many youth of the time worked at the Guild Inn. Was searching the web for pictures of the Inn to show my wife, & found your site. the memories just started flooding back. The plaza, nursing home church, they we evidence that I was home, rounding the curve at the bottome of the hill, was like entering a different, safe world. Toronto & Scarborough were still there, but we lived in the Guild Village....beat that. Many kudos for stirring my thoughts of yesteryear.

I was born and raised in Scarborough. For a little over a year during my early marriage, I had the distinct pleasure and honour to live in the Guildwood Village. During that time we participated in the Guildwood Day and had the time of our lives decorating a float representing our street, Grandor Drive. I took my two children for a daily walk to the grounds of the Guild Inn and there were a few romantic evenings spent there with my husband. I truly hope that this historic and gracious landmark is reopened so that others can enjoy its profound beauty. To me, the Guild Inn was the focal point of Guildwood Village and deserves to be preserved.

Do you have any idea why we are going to war with Iraq. Stop being so ignorant and open you eyes and learn from the past. Only thing I can say to you is read up on North Korea and learn about dictatorship and world extortions. I just hope you don't represent Korean-Canadians in Canada.

I live in Guildwood and think that your site is excellent.

For anyone coming to visit us from Britain for a holiday, I just refer them to your site to get the feel of Guildwood, then Toronto, and then the big tourist attraction that people want to see, Niagara Falls. Your pictures are worth a thousand words.
