Guildwood Day 1999There are two important days in the Guildwood calendar: The annual Guildwood Village yard sale takes place on the last Saturday of May. Stuff is the junk you keep. Junk is the stuff you throw out. The rest, you sell in a yard sale! A couple of weeks later, is Guildwood Day!
The day starts with a pancake breakfast at the Presbyterian Church. One of the people cooking pancakes was Mr. Peter van der Jagt, the Liberal Party candidate in the recent provincial election (at left in the above photo).
The parade starts at Sir Wilfred Laurier Collegiate Institute. It proceeds west along Guildwood parkway, past the Presbyterian Church, and heads towards the Extendicare nursing home. ![]()
After leaving the nursing home, the parade turns eastward along Guildwood Parkway.
Finally, the crowds end up in the park behind the high school.
Events continue all afternoon behind and inside the high school with games, entertainment, and pony rides for children. |
