Whirlpool Rapids
On River Road, across from the Buddhist temple, there's a dumpy looking souvenir store, usually with a long line of people waiting outside. What are they waiting for? They're waiting because the elevator going down can take only so many people at one time.
At the bottom of the elevator ride, there's a narrow tunnel leading outside to the bottom of the Niagara Gorge. At that point, the waters of the Niagara River flow through a set of class 6 rapids. You can walk along a boardwalk to see the rapids from a few different viewpoints.
We saw the "Great Gorge Adventure" advertised on a previous visit to Niagara, but never considered checking it out. Now, it's called the "Whitewater Walk", which perhaps more accurately describes it. Someone at our bed and breakfast recommended it, so we decided to try it this time.
