Niagara on the Lake
Niagara on the Lake is a sleepy town where the Niagara River flows into Lake Ontario. Like the city of Niagara Falls, Niagara on the Lake caters mainly to tourists. Unlike Niagara Falls, this town seems largely unaffected by the hordes of tourists.
The town's main draw is the Shaw Festival, where, during the summer months, you can have your fill of theater. Also, along the town's main street, Queen Street, you can find dozens of craft shops and trendy cafes.
When visiting the Niagara region, this is a good place to find affordable bed-and-breakfast accomodation. The falls are about twenty minutes away to the south along the scenic Niagara Parkway. In addition, there are several wineries close by that offer free tours.
