Eastern Beaches
Although some locals refer to their neighborhood as "The Beach", there are several contiguous named beaches, including Balmy Beach, Kew Beach, and Woodbine Beach. In the 19th Century, this area was a popular weekend destination for city residents. One of the attractions was an amusement park, now long gone.
Today, this is one of the more popular neighborhoods amongst Toronto's Yuppie class. During the summer, the parks and beaches are full of people. Public transit is often the best way to get here since it is difficult to find convenient parking. Unfortunately, swimming is usually banned early in the summer due to pollution.
These photos were taken in the Fall. The cool weather feels colder due to the wind coming off the lake. But there are still people outdoors - cycling, rollerblading, or walking their dogs.
