Thanks for building this site, it's very interesting.

I have become a Prussian modeller over the past few years, I simply love the period and the liveries.

Finding it hard to get any reading materiel in English language though, even German language is hard enough!

A couple more celebrity modellers for you, Pete Waterman who brought us Kylie Minogue and others is a well know railway nut in the UK, rebuilds full size steam and has a large finescale 2R 0 gauge layout.

Also Ben Ando, a BBC newscaster who's heavily into N gauge, may even be involved with 'your' Rapido trains!

Cheers,

John.

In the section of celebrity model railroaders, you might add, Bobby “Bacala” Baccalieri from the HBO show, "The Sopranos". :)

Here are 3 more names to add to your fictitious list of modelrailroaders:Bobby from the Sopranos, Allen's ex wife's husband on Two and a Half Men and of course, Captain Cangaroo.(Every year he had a special show where he had train layouts set up throughout the different areas of the sets of his TV studio.)

Hello again,

if anyone is looking for Hydrocal, just go to Websters and Sons Limitied in Mississauga Ontario. Their phone number is (905) 564-3219. A 100 lb bag was about 40 dollars two years ago.

Hello,

thank you for this wonderful web site. It has brought back a lot of memories from Germany. Also great train information, a resource used quite often to find where all the shows are.

Thank you again

I'm rebuilding my layout, N scale, and was planning on using hydrocal myself, as I used it in the dental lab. You had noted that you were having a hard time finding it. Its actually very easy to get from any dentist or dental lab. A giant 25 lbs bag would be less than $20. Try calling a dental supplier. It's actually quite easy to work with after a little practise, and if you want it to dry faster, use hot water, slower, use cold water.

For the "Fictitious Model Railroaders" list on the "Misc." page. here's an addition:

Bobby 'Bacala' Baccalieri from "The Sopranos", played by Steve Schirripa.

Had a G-scale layout in the garage. Was "hit" in a model train shop in the next-to-last episode and fell dead on a layout in the shop, wrecking it.

My Grandfather drove the locomotive on display just outside of Haliburton to it's final resting place. Not sure if you realize the mistake but the number on this locomotive is #2616 not 15.

Maybe that can be cleared up since it makes it a little harder to search for.

Thank-you

I am a big train buff. I am into HO scale and saw the article about Rod Stewart lay out in the MRR for the Dec issue. I was so over taken that some one in the lime light, would have time to work on this hobby. I would love to see it. I have had trains all my life and I was also born in 1945 like Rod Stewart was. It is a very relaxing hobby, expensive and time consuming. My wife and I of 32 yrs had the trains in another home, it was 16x24. We have a new house built and I am in the processing of trying to get a plan for a room 12x12. Right now I am cutting boards, and laying the track in our sitting room, so the trains will run around. I cant wait for the finish project.

I hope if Rod Stewart reads this, I would like to say, thx for being a part of the train buffs. God Bless and keep on railing/tracking/railroading.

I am a quebecois living in France and I am amazed by the growing leadership of Bombardier which has becomed the world's largest train manufacturer.

The US are just happy with Alsthom/Bombardier TGV called the ACELA riding between Boston and Washington. The train loco comes from the french and the tilting cars from Quebec or Vermont Bombardier factories. According to Le Devoir, the US have justified and found the money to send the ACELA to Montreal. Just a pity that Canada shall be the last G7 developped country without any TGV riding its tracks.

Your site is inspirational.I recently inhereted a 4'X8' train set from my father-in law. He spent many hours modeling a German railroad scene from his youth. It has been sitting around for ten years. I am going to try to revive this work of art for my children. Thanks for the advice about reading all you can on railroad modelling.

The site is awesome. I have a 7x18 narrow guage layout in my room. It started a knee level and ends at the roof. I have 110 acres of land (well my parents land). I'm creatig a line of live steam through it as a small business. I recently spent almost 50,000 dollars and bought a live steam version of Challenger 4-6-6-4. It's awesome. Thanks for the website.

Very interesting to explore your website. Thank you kindly for lots I did not know. Pleased to read about famous people who love all sizes of trains. As a baby I lived with the daily sound of freight trains. At age 3 I wanted to be the engineer on a train. I loved the Bugs Bunny children's record about being a train engineer. Sitting in a train's parlour car and watching scenery is like relaxing in a rocking chair -- the best way to travel. Now that I am past 50, my husband has introduced me to model trains and the vista before me seems endless.
