Laboe U-Boat
May 1993, Laboe, Germany
From the top of the 85m tall tower at the German Naval War Memorial (Marine-Ehrenmal) in Laboe, you can see a U-Boat sitting on the beach. U-995 was launched in Hamburg in 1943, and plied the waters off Norway and in the Barents Sea. As you can see by the lineup, it's a popular attraction.
The German Naval War Memorial is not just to honor German sailors lost during war. You can see wreaths honoring sailors from other nations too.
